Porta dei Leoni is an urban regeneration project carried out by DVC at the entrance to the Trastevere district. The intervention involved the replacement of a disused office building with a new mixed-use complex comprising residential, commercial, and tertiary functions, while preserving the existing building volumes.

The project consists of two underground levels and eight above-ground floors and is set within a high-density urban context characterized by significant logistical complexity. These challenges were addressed through flexible construction planning and technical solutions focused on safety and the continuity of surrounding activities.

The building features a reinforced concrete structure with predalles slabs and a high-performance envelope in terms of energy efficiency and acoustic insulation, achieving Energy Class A3. Independent building services systems for each residential unit ensure efficiency and operational flexibility.

During excavation works, archaeological remains were uncovered and managed through structural design variations agreed upon with the Superintendency, without significant impacts on the project schedule. The intervention contributes to the urban regeneration of a strategic area of Rome, combining architectural quality with careful attention to the historical context.

An intervention that interprets urban regeneration as a balance between construction quality, contextual complexity, and continuity with the city’s history.
